Jennifer Powers, M.D

Jennifer Powers, M.D. is a board-certified dermatologist and Associate Professor of Dermatology at the University of Iowa with interests in the microbiome of wound healing as well as melanoma epidemiology. A native of Illinois, she graduated magna cum laude from Harvard College with a degree in the History of Science. She completed her medical training at Vanderbilt School of Medicine in 2008. She completed Dermatology Residency at Boston University, where she served as Chief Resident. From 2012 to 2015, she was an Assistant Professor of the Division of Dermatology at Vanderbilt followed by a faculty position at Duke Dermatology, where she continues to hold an adjunct position. Dr. Powers is interested in the development of microbiome-based therapeutics for wound healing and scars.
